happy new year 2011

It's another new year!

I'm in Primary 2 (can't believe how time flies), Rara is in K1 and Min is 18 months, next year she starts pre-nursery, can't imagine that as she is still very much the baby in the house!

I'm still the smallest boy in my class.  I can read and write many more words now so that makes learning spelling more manageble than before.  I still have to go for extra chinese classes that my chinese teacher conducts for those slower students.  I still attend Berries on Sat mornings and now sister Rara has joined me too!  I have stopped Sportball since the year began but I do hope to go back at some point.  I still tell Mummy I like Math and Science and sometimes I say I wanna be a scientist...

This year is the Year of the Rabbit.  Mummy jumps up and down upon the mention of it...guess she gets very excited as it is HER year, but she tries to suppress her excitement as she certainly is feeling old... telling people about the Rabbit Year disloses her AGE!

So here are some pictures of Chinese New Year 2011 for memory sake:

yes my 2 sisters wore some "wigs", thank goodness I didn't have to, I would NOT want to!  haha.  But I think my sisters are pretty & sweet, the fun of having girls & dressing them up so they say...

Meeting Buzz & Woody!

My school term ended on Thur 18 Nov 2010.  That marks the end of my Primary 1 year... I'll be in Pri 2 next year!

Friday 19 Nov - I was off from school already so I joined Mummy in sending Aurora to school and it was end of year school party for her.  After that we went to see Po Po off at the Budget Terminal as she was flying back to Kuantan (thankful for a flight that goes there now!) to attend an impt celebration.

After we picked Aurora from school, we had lunch at Aurora's classmate's place, whose Mummy was so kind to have us over for lunch and a bunch of Aurora's friends.

In the afternoon, Mummy granted my wish of going to Parkway for the Buzz & Woody Meet and Greet!

Yes we made it!  Took a photo with Buzz Lightyear and Woody, how thrilling!

I also got to play at the adventure stations.  Love Toy Story!

Mummy encouraged me to answer a question from the host and I got a little prize, yeah!

7th birthday celebration at school

Let's try to post a picture of my 7th birthday celebration in school during recess. :)

I am 7!

It has been a long time since we updated my blog, it's a struggle whether to continue!  Another reason is mummy is having problems putting up pictures, everytime she clicks on the "insert/edit image" button the whole screen seems to freeze and nothing else can be done.  It's strange.

So this will be a blog entry without pictures (for the time being).

Oh... Daddy posted a picture

I am 7 years old now.  I celebrated my 7th birthday in school, as it was a normal school day on Tuesday 28 Sep 2010.  Mummy took leave and brought a cake to school during recess time and my form teacher got my class to sing a birthday song for me at the canteen.  Mummy also gave out goodie bags to them.  Although it was a simple celebration, we had a few meals with family members to "celebrate" my birthday so it does add up to quite a bit!  On Sunday 26 Sep, we had dinner with Jiu Jiu and family after some water play at Sembawang Shopping Centre and Mummy bought a small cake for me.

On the actual day, 28 Sep, we had lunch with Po Po before I went to school.  In the evening, we met up with Ye Ye and Ma Ma after school and had a nice dinner at Jack's Place.  They bought me a Thomas cake so that was my 3rd cake!  I am thankful for the presents I received.  Mummy got Jiu Jiu to buy me a pair of badminton rackets as she remembered I was asking for them.  Let's hope daddy and mummy will find time to play badminton with me, Jiu Jiu offered to play too!

Daddy gave me a very special present, which I only received days after my birthday... guess what, it is a MICROSCOPE!  My 1st microscope!  I am looking forward to studying science as one of the subjects in school but i heard that will only happen in Pri 3.  Jiu Jiu also bought me a pair of badminton rackets!  Something I've been asking Mummy for and I think she conveyed the wish to Jiu Jiu!

My Primary 1 days are coming to a close as we are now into mid Oct... this week will be exam week for me and after that, I will look forward to the year end holidays!  Can't believe the year has passed so quickly.  It has been a very significant year for me, entering into formal education in Primary 1.  It has been challenging definitely.  I am a late bloomer as Daddy and Mummy always says, a dreamer and easily distracted.  I was put in the Learning Support Programme (I guess not because I can't read well, probably more to do with school readiness) and I sit right in front in class so the teacher can keep an eye on me.  hehe.  It's a big challenge for people at home to make it sit down and do my homework and do revision.  When I am in a happy and good mood, it's not so bad... but many times I'll be whinning away.  hehe.  Usually Daddy is tasked to handle me, since somehow he is the only one who can make me sit down and do my work obediently and I will be cooperative.  School work has not been too easy either, heard my school is known for the very challenging spelling they give to children, and what's more we are only in P1.  Always 10 long difficult phrases and with dictation as well!  And none of the words in the spelling section are repeated in the dictation.  Think mummy is the most relieved person when I told her there will be no more spelling till the end of the year!

Just to record down a few egs that we can recall for now:
different types of vegetation
wolves howl to communicate
blended in a mixture of vanilla and chocolate milkshake
baked a fruit tart for dessert

Yes, if we use a colloquial term, i am very blur... my classmates have been asked to help me pack my bag sometimes for example, help me find my worksheets... hope I'll mature and manage myself better as I grow up, Mummy says.  Let me grow at my own pace... I should be there eventually... hehe.  Generally, I do enjoy school, especially making friends on the school bus and in school, having the freedom to buy things from the canteen and bookshop and I do like my school.

My strengths... I like to make things, see how things work and i love lego, games and sports.  I have been doing Sportball (previously at United Square but now in a pri school premise) since the beginning of this year.  Well, this is about the only place my parents get some good feedback on me... things like "He is doing very well, he is ahead of his class, he is good..." Such comments are very remote to daddy and mummy if it's anything academic so far!  hee.

But for Sportball, I do enjoy myself and like my coaches say, I am doing pretty well.  It's a programme from Canada and they expose children to 7 types of sports: Football, tennis, golf, baseball, hockey, volleyball, and basketball.  We do all these sports and go over them again and again.

Daddy and Mummy says I am a cheerful boy, still very childlike, a loving brother to my two sweet & more
agressive than me little sisters and we thank God for the 7 years of my life I have now passed through!

P.S. something interesting to note: when I enter a restaurant with Mummy & Daddy, the adults will tell the waitress, "table for 3".  There have been several occasions the waitress replied, "need a baby chair?".  Some of the times I was wearing my school uniform!  What are the waitresses thinking?!?!  Do I look that young??? It's quite embarassing! haha and yet ridiculous.

funny emails they circulate abt us kids!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!

1.You spend the first two years of their lives teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2.Grandchildren are God’s reward for not killing your own children.

3.Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4.Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn’t have said.

5.The main purpose of holding children’s parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own

6.We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

 ADVICE FOR THE DAY

Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

 AND FINALLY

If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle:

“TAKE TWO ASPIRINS” and “KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN”!!!

(Maybe that is also why (besides being sleep deprived) Daddy always has headaches!)

March hols

One of the exercises we do at school is to write a journal. It's one of the weekly homework that I get.  During the March hols, one of the homework I got is to write in the journal about my March hols.

I had a wonderful time at Godparents' place during the March hols.  I spent more than half a day at their place, playing wii (which I really really enjoy!!), swimming and dinner and wii again.  Thank you Godma and Godpa for having me over.  So of course, I had to write about the fun time in my journal!

I really love playing wii and cherish the chance to play it, since I don't have that at home or any other form of gaming for that matter.  I shall look forward to the next chance!  hehe.

Disney on ice 2010

We went to see Disney On Ice on Fri 19 March 2010, 3.30 pm show.

It was a fun outing as we bought tickets altogether with Aurora's classmates (the few mummies who hang out together).  We had 5 adults, 8 children and 2 babies in total!

We met up for lunch at Kallang Leisure Park and thus had a good few hours before the show.  The mummies dropped us at Growing Paints for an hour and we had fun painting!

We were looking forward to see Buzz Lightyear (see, I specially dressed up for the occasion!  Finally wearing the set of Buzz Lightyear tee & shorts bought from Mothercare UK by mummy's dearest cousin Mei Ling!) so it was a little disappointing that the Buzz Lightyear segment was rather short.  Buzz also looks a big weird.  The real one is Disneyland sure looks a lot better I am sure.
Anyhow, it was a nice show on the whole since the Incredibles segment was rather long and exciting.

All the kiddos, excluding 2 babies who were not in the picture.  Great company!  Although you may not read this blog, we want to say thank you Aunties, for your friendship!  Mummy is very blessed to know you all and truly cherish all the times we spent together.

monday hair cut with daddy

I enjoy my Monday evenings going out to dinner with Daddy and Mummy after they fetch me from school.  As Daddy is attending a course every Monday evening, they have resolved to take me out to dinner every Monday...2 main reaons:
1) I get to eat what I like to eat and eat happily, a contrast with my daily miserable dinner at home where I get nagged & chided all e time for eating ever so slowly and every dinner is always not so pleasant.
2) Daddy gets transport home after his class!  The timing is just right... after picking me up, Mummy will drive me to meet Daddy who would have just finished his class.

Last Monday (1 Mar), Daddy and I had a haircut together, sitting side by side!  After that we proceeded to dinner.

PE Attire

And this is me in my PE attire.

My new school uniform

Mummy got  me to model my new school uniform at home on Sun 3 Jan.

Daddy helped me wear my new uniform.
